Outdoor Activities

There are more than a dozen public beaches in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, all of which are free for the public to use and enjoy. All along the Gulf of Mexico, white sand beaches dot the coastline and offer opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, surfing, beachcombing, and more.

Gulf Place, or the Gulf Shores Main Public Beach, lay at the very tip of Alabama where Highway 59 ends and our sugary white sands empty into the sparkling Gulf of Mexico. This beach offers three open-air pavilions, a picnic area, restrooms, showers, and on-site beach attendants.

Between March 1 and November 30, parking is $5 for up to four hours and $10 for the entire day. Be sure to arrive early to get a spot.

Other public beaches in the area include the Gulf State Park Beaches, Cotton Bayou, Lagoon Pass Beach, and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge Beach. Check individual beaches for parking access and cost.
