Description

Sandpiper is a popular three story complex on West Beach in Gulf Shores. This unique V shape building with shared common area walkway in front of each condo lends to a friendly get to know your neighbor atmosphere. Family reunions, groups of friends traveling together and individual families choose this property often. The tropical courtyard, swimming pool and grilling area give Sandpiper an ambiance all its own. It is a highly requested property and has the most repeat guests.

Choose to enjoy your neighbors on the common walkway or enjoy watching the waves roll in as you sit on your private, beachfront balcony. You'll have all the advantages of home as you take advantage of your own fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and baths, complete with flat screen TVs and WiFi.

we love the location but the dishwasher and stove showed signs of neglect and age. The mattress and pillows in the main bedroom was not comfortable. we then tried the spare bedroom bed with the same result. the living room furniture was comfortable

We had a great stay at the Sandpiper! The pool took a day or 2 to get fixed (heater) but was wonderful for the rest of the week. The condo was clean and well kept too. I really like the keypad entry vs the physical key method as well. Parking was never a problem with plenty of room. Along with a great, and heated pool, my family enjoyed the grills. The only concern I do have are the price increases that seem a bit steep. Apparently the competition with Florida is heating up.

Sandpiper 8C 2022 – 2023
This year we rented 8C for the entire 2022 – 2023 snowbird season. We enjoyed the outstanding ocean and beach view and the multiple options for outdoor seating. We were very happy to see the unit has a new couch and refreshed artwork and decor. The master bedroom TV has challenging sound issues. Kitchen and bathrooms furnishings are functional and in satisfactory condition.

We all love our time in 8C. The private deck was the best part. We didn't have to deal with the other guests nor the people smoking outside our room. It was easy to get to the beach and everyone was so nice. We could leave our beach stuff downstairs, so we didn't have to bring it up and down every time. Sandpiper was close to everything so it was hard for us to eat in and not go out and try new foods. Wish we could of stay longer.

The furniture in the living room was the biggest drawback. It needs replaced. We met one of the owner of 8c and he asked how things were going. We told him of a couple of other issues and he got on them immediately. Real stand up guy. The T.V. in the bedroom facing the gulf makes a horrible noise and needs replaced as well, either that or the satellite box.

We had another amazing year in golf shores. We continue to book year after year because it’s just so easy for our family. Condo 8C has been our favorite condo yet and we’ve stayed in six different units. The only two complaints we would have is the couch was the most uncomfortable couch we’ve ever sat on. I’m pretty sure all the springs in the couch are broken. Secondly, the TV in the master bedroom didn’t seem to work half the time and made a screeching loud noise when we turned it on. It likely needs to be replaced.

Other than that, the unit was amazing. It has more space than other units, has amazing sights, and the carpet was a nice change from past years having tile floors.

I can NOT complain about the unit 8C. Located on the Gulf end of the condos with wonderful views of the Gulf from within and without (private deck off Master bedroom). I emailed the Bender staff to relate a couple of issues and they were never addressed "we'll notify Maintenance". I owned & operated a nursing home for 36 years and issues were taken care of almost immediately or the paying customers weren't happy. (1) I tried to live with the electric oven/cooktop - though I prefer gas. What made it difficult in the unit was the lights being out over the stove top/cooktop. I asked that they be fixed, they weren't and I feel like i spent a week cooking in the dark. If I had brought a Phillips screwdriver I would have replaced the bulbs myself; (2) I relayed that the cover was missing to the a/c unit and when the unit was on the filter was sucked into the unit......the filter itself was filthy and needed to be changed and the air was obviously NOT being filtered appropriately & my main concern was the long-term damage that would do to the unit itself my 3 year old granddaughter has respiratory issues; (3) my daughter called Bender twice (that I know of) to relate that the pool heater was not working (for at least the last 3 days of our visit). It was an unusually "cool" week at the beach and very windy. A cold pool was not INVITING to either of my grandchildren especially the 3 year old granddaughter (who was not fond of the Gulf water - two red flags). My daughter was told "we have ordered a part". If I told my nursing home residents when the oven was not working and they had to eat MRE's because "a part was on order" it wouldn't fly. Things I did not relate to Bender: (a) there was a shard on the water knob in the back bedroom that I cut my finger on the first evening we were there; (c) door knob/lock on deck door needs replaced; (d) lid on hall toilet wouldn't stay up & g'son kept peeing on seat; lid on other toilet broken. Cleanliness 6 of 10.

We love staying at Sandpiper & love dealing with Bender Realty. The only problem we experienced was the elevator was broken when we arrived but they are supposed to give us a discount due to that inconvenience & the room was not as clean as I would have expected it to be for the amount of the cleaning fee. But as always, we enjoyed our stay with Bender & at Sandpiper. Can't wait for the next trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed another fabulous week at the Sandpiper. We have been visiting for spring break every year since 2007. The weather is always beautiful and the location of Sandpiper cannot be beat. The Bender Realty team went above and beyond as always to ensure our stay was the best. I would not rent through any other company in Gulf Shores!

Note about 8C - the carpet needs to be replaced throughout the entire unit. It is very old and stretched out. In addition, the couch and love seat need replacing as they are both thread bare in places. 8C is a beautiful end unit but these two areas must be addressed by the owner as they significantly impact the renters’ stay in a negative way.

Great location! Needed more forks in kitchen, there was no can opener or baking pans. Ceiling fan blades were dirty. Great pool, plenty of grills and good beach access. Will be back again in 4 years.

This year we rented 8C for the entire 2019 – 2020 winter season. We enjoyed the outstanding ocean and beach view and the multiple options for outdoor seating. This unit is furnished with updated mattresses, flat screen TV, recliner, dining table, and deck seating. Kitchen and bathrooms furnishings are functional and in satisfactory condition. All the flooring is showing end of life, in particularly the carpet (although cleaned before we arrived) has ripples, bagginess and staining. Likewise, the couch and love seat in the living room are very old and extremely uncomfortable.

Very satisfied for the 4th year in a row staying at sandpiper rentals. The end units give you a lot of room and the private balcony is worth it. The master bed was the only fault, would do an upgrade on the matress, we had a gard time sleeping on it, ceiling fan and ac fans were very loud in this room also.

Sandpiper Unit 8C is a nice unit with it's private deck and larger living room area. We have stayed in this unit for several year. With it's bed combinations it makes a great unit for a family. The set of beds in the Master suite are really designed for children of light weight adults as they are not well supported.

This was our 1st time in The Sandpiper 8C. We loved the layout and especially the deck. The deck was perfect for spending time in the sun or time to relax in early morning or at night. The condo had everything we needed. The folks at Bender Realty were great to work with. My only suggestion to the condo owner would be to replace the carpet throughout the condo with a wood type flooring. This would be more practical for a Beach Condo.

We extended our stay and moved to 8C...newly remodeled with great taste! I would only suggest replacing the full bed to a king in master. Also would like to see an island for extra prep area and storage in kitchen! We would love to reserve again! Hats off to the owner!

Overall we were very satisfied. We had excellent weather all week and were able to relax and enjoy our time together. I find it ironic that the title I am looking at as I write this review is "Enjoy the Sunsets on the Porch Glider" because the porch glider was broken and did not even look safe to sit on. Also we had a lot of stuff to take down to the beach every day in our wagon and it was very difficult to pull it through the sand. I feel they should look into getting a boardwalk like the other properties around it.

Overall it was great. Not as many utensils as some of the other condos but all in all we had what we needed. A couple of the beds were pretty hard but a lot of people prefer this. The elevator was down one day but they came out as soon as they could to fix it. We look forward to our vacation at Sandpiper next year! Already have our condo reserved

We loved our Gulf Shores vacation! We have already booked 8C for the same time next year. Obviously the view is amazing, but the furnishings are nice, and it felt very spacious for our family of 5. We didn't realize carpet was such a big deal, but we had friends tell us none of the condos they have stayed in have carpet. So we ended up being extremely thankful for did a great job of hiding the "sandy" feeling. Washer and dryer were great - we packed light and did laundry every other day. Definitely 5 stars, with just two suggestions: the master bed is not terrible, but it's not the most comfortable bed. An upgrade on the mattress would be hugely appreciated. And 2nd, the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed...except we couldn't find an ice cream scoop. Maybe we missed it - there are lots of drawers with gadgets...but an ice cream scoop would be helpful to have. Thank you!

we chose this rental because it had three beds in the second bedroom, perfect for our three kids. We loved the view from the balcony, perfect for morning coffee and evening wine. Bathrooms are nice and big. Only complaints are: slippery tubs and only 4 chairs at the dining table. We had to bring in an extra chair from outside to accommodate for the 5 of us.

We have been coming to the Sandpiper for about 30 years. We have stayed in Unit 8C for many of those years. It has plenty of beds for a small or larger family as well as a stocked kitchen. The view is phenomenal and the only way to enjoy your stay on the gulf. Why come all the way here if you can't see the water? Bender Realty is our number one choice for vacation rentals in the area!

My wife and I have celebrated our birthdays in gulf shoree for years and we love staying at Sandpiper, which is quite and conducive for relaxing activities such as sitting on their pristine beaches, and dozing off to the sounds of the surf and birds. The agents working in Bender's realty office are very helpful and I would recommend Bender for all of your vacation needs. God bless????

We have stayed at the Sandpiper for over 20 years for Spring Break. We are never disappointed when we call or walk in the office on that first day to see the smiling faces of the staff. Bill Bender often greets us as he remembers us from previous years. Sandpiper has grown up with us and even as all the high rise condos and fancy hotels crowd the skyline we have never considered staying in one of them before staying at the Sandpiper with Bender Realty. Sandpiper Spring Break Family is our family...we have watch families such as our own go from young adults to parents, to kids going off to college and then those kids coming back with their own children years I said we have grown older with Sandpiper. Fortunately, Sandpiper has gotten new updates and face lifts to keep it fresh and competitive with other accommodations in the area but still has a homelike feeling. When an issue is brought to the attention of the staff it is resolved as soon as possible at the guests convenience. Would I recommend Sandpiper and 8C to others? Of course I would...but only to those people who appreciate and recognize the better things in life!

We had a great time. The outside of the property was clean and well maintained. The condo was okay, but could have used a good cleaning. Floors were dirty, woodwork and doors had dirty hand prints every where, bed linens were stained, and we had to buy our own blanket for our bed. The dryer in the unit did not dry clothes. But despite the cleanliness issues, we were there to enjoy the beach and pool and that's just what we did.

The room and condo were great. Updated rooms since the photos. The management was great and attentive when needed. This is our 5th visit to this complex and every time we remember why we love it so much!! ONLY complaint is the dryer in the unit does not work well. It takes hours to dry a small load.

We have visited Gulf Shores for 30 years at Spring Break. About 26 of those years we have stayed at Sandpiper. WE LOVE SANDPIPER for its at home feeling and friendly atmosphere. Units are beautifully decorated and accommodate families. We don't plan on ever staying anywhere else! Bill Bender and the staff at Bender are incredible friendly and work hard to meet our needs. They take a personal interest in making their guests feel at home. Thank you to Bill and staff for everything...every year!

This was a very nice property managed to be family oriented. Despite being there over spring break, we did not encounter any type of problems! The property is well kept and clean. I was especially impressed with the way the kitchen was stocked. It was obviously done by someone who actually cooks!! Although I brought some things from home, I wouldn't have needed to. A+++.Would recommend to anyone and would definately go back again!

We loved 8C! The view of the sunsets was breathtaking and we even got to see dolphins swim close by! The property was clean and well-maintained. We have vacationed at Gulf Shores for over fifteen years and love the area. The Sandpiper has been our choice of places to stay for the past seven years. This is our first experience in 8C and thoroughly enjoyed the beach front private balcony and would be my choice for future stays. The unit was clean, kitchen well equipped and nice and living room area had updated furniture. My only complaint is the mattress in the master (balcony) bedroom was extremely firm and uncomfortable and there was no television in that bedroom, which would be really nice to have after a long day on the beach and you're ready to wind down for the night. I would highly recommend a GS vacation and the Sandpiper is always a wonderful place to stay.

We had 5 adults and a toddler and there was plenty of room for everyone. The location was ideal. The private balcony on this unit was perfect. There were a couple days I didn't even go down to the beach because I was able to enjoy it all (the breeze, the sounds, the smells, the sun) from the roomy balcony without having the hassle of the sand. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Overall our stay was wonderful. We loved the location of our unit. The only thing we had concerns about was the carpet. It was very soiled. The large spots on the carpet were very noticable to us and to our friends and neighbors as they visited. Also, there was no suction from the sweeper. We borrowed a sweeper from one of the other units to do the cleaning. The sweeper appeared to be quite old. We were extremely happy with the employees at the property management office. I had to have refrigerated medication mailed to me while in Gulf Shores. They went above and beyond to see that I received the medication after it was dropped off at the Bender Realty Office. We will be staying at this facility again next year.

We were returning to the Sandpiper about 10 years after our first visit. The building is very nice and well laid out. The unit was also nice. The only possible complaint was that the carpet was pretty worn and stained in the dining area mainly, so it's probably ready to be replaced. The ladies at Bender are almost unbelievable friendly and welcoming, so our interactions with them were a treat! If I were going to purchase a unit in GS, I would look seriously at the Sandpiper.

The water pressure was terrible in both showers. I could only take a bath in one because it was so bad. Other than that, it was a great condo.

Cleaning needed in unit--rug, floors, but overall very nice.

We had a great time with all our family-55 of us this year and are already planning our return next year. We have been meeting at Gulf Shores for 24 years.Best place to vacation with kids.

this was our 17th year comming to gulf shores our 15th year at sandpiper we have stayed in 16c for fifteen years and my sister stayed in 8c this year. we love the people and the hospitality and of course the weather and the beach.the staff at bender has been really good and accomodating. the one thing i would like to see is a discount for those of us who come every year(2010 oil spill only miss in 17 years) we are loyal and can spend our money any where. please consider this request. i am very cognizant of the conditions with weather and the like never the less it would be welcomed by the good folks who visit your great area. yes we have booked our trip for next year, my son and daughter will be juniors in college but they look forward to our family vacation to gulf shores every year. kevi nlouisville,ky

We have stayed at the Sandpiper for the last 20+ years and are never disappointed. If there ever is a problem all we have had to do is make a phone call to the office and the problem is fixed right away...now that's service. We always feel welcome and consider the Sandpiper our personal spring break home each year. We have grown up with many others who visit each year for spring break...what a great feeling!

Bender Realty went above and beyond to accommodate us, even our faxing needs. They were quite helpful with suggestions for the local restaurants & activities.
The Sandpiper condominium was great! The ocean views were spectacular at sunrise & sunset. The neighboring visitors also made the stay very appeasing. Can't wait for my next visit!!

Except for there being no heat in the condo for the first night everything else was great. The problem with the heat was reported and fixed the next day. I thought the rental agency should have offerred some discount off the first days rental due to the heat not working and it was cold, but none was offerred or asked for by me.

Well equipped kitchen. Great condo with a wonderful view.
We will return. The carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced.
The Sandpiper is a perfect place to create many family memories.

My wife and I have enjoyed my yearly family reunion for about ten years and would not consider staying anywhere but Sandpiper. The condos are great and we love going to the restaurants in the area, especially the Original Oyster House. Looking forward to next year!

We have stayed at the Sandpiper for the past 20 years for spring break. First time in 8C. We do wish they would consider doubling the beds in the larger bedroom as we have 2 teenagers! Just a thought...the rest of the room was wonderful...well stocked and beautiful decor.

The beachfront condo was excellent. We loved the view.
Having stayed in other Sandpiper condos we did find this kitchen exceptionally equipped over others we have stayed in.
We love the Sandpiper and we will be back!
