Description

Sandpiper is a low density three story complex. Enjoy watching the waves roll in as you sit on this direct beachfront balcony. This unique V shape building and shared common area walkway in front of each condo lends to a friendly get to know your neighbor atmosphere. Family reunions, large groups of people traveling together and individual families choose this property often. The tropical courtyard, swimming pool and grilling areas give Sandpiper an ambiance all its own. It is a highly requested property and has the most repeat guests.

We were so happy with all the updates on 8A! We will be returning in 2024! The morning coffee and sunsets on the back porch are incredible! The staff at Bender bend over backwards to help with anything you need. The cleaning crew for the units could do more, I think they get rushed and miss things. Please, please get a new couch.

The upgrades that were made were nice. The furniture is pretty outdated though. The only downside is the price. The price of the unit keeps going up year after year. It has now reached a price point to where it’s only a few hundred less than an all inclusive vacation in Aruba. They may end up pricing us out of returning if it continues to rise and surpass $4k a week.

My "go to" place in Gulf Shores is getting a little "tired".

I have been a regular renter of unit 8A, off and on for many years at the Sandpiper on W Beach Blvd. While I am extremely happy with the property, the management, the location, etc., the unit hasn't had an update...ever. It is very tired looking and has some issues that have caused me to decide to start using a different unit going forward. It has been a long run but I do not see the logic in continuing to pay for this particular unit when others are freshly updated and dont have the issues. So long, 8A...hello 16B!

We have been coming to this place for 20 plus years. It never disappoints and this year was no exception. Condo was great, close to the beach, private deck with a new swing. Bender reality is always great to work with, friendly and very helpful. Definitely coming back again.

We've stayed at the Sandpiper many times and always have a great time. The location is great and the Bender Realty staff are top notch -- however, 8A is in desperate need of updates by the owner of the condo. Other condos in the same complex have been updated over the years, but it seems like the owners of 8A just don't care. The carpet is torn in several places, there is an old door mat covering tack strips in the hallways, there is visible mold/mildew in the A/C vents and the unit itself is just dated and rundown. We had 3 other parties with us who all stayed in different units and their units were far superior. My parents stayed in a room that was priced exactly the same as ours, and there's was immaculate. I'm not sure how Bender/Sandpiper can keep charging a premium prices for 8A in the shape that it is in.

Loud enough to where it would wake us up at night and in the mornings. We have rented this unit again for next year and hope we don’t have to deal with the noisy animals next door.

Overall, this location is wonderful. However, it could use a very thorough cleaning, vents, a new toilet seat and updating. Comparing to the other units that have new flooring, updated kitchens and showers instead of tubs this is definitely in need of some TLC. The deck is wonderful, the patio furniture is very nice, but it would be beneficial to remove the swing to allow for utilizing the space. The carpet definitely needs replacing. First of all, Bender reality is great! They are very easy to deal with, and will do whatever it takes to make things right.
This Condo was very nice, and clean. Could use a little updating though. The deck was awesome with the swing. The view, and access to the beach was fantastic!! This was our 2nd year at the Sandpiper, and it won't be the last. Already looking forward to next year!!

Thank goodness for Bender! No matter how big/small the request is they take care of it! Does this unit need a bit of updating, Yes it does. Did we have a great time despite, yes we did! The cleaning crew could be more detailed or even once a month do a major clean. We pay good money for the cleaning it should be better.

The pool, the beach, the other renters made our trip so enjoyable! We were able to grill out with multiple families or just by ourselves! The property was going through a major cleanup on the outside the week we were there.

We have stayed at The Sandpiper Condos multiple times, the last 3 times in unit 8A, which is our favorite. Everything about it is fantastic...the condo itself, the view, the beach, and all the nice people we meet. We have already booked a week in 2022 and can't wait!

As always, the Bender Realty staff was superb! The grounds and building is kept up very well. The 8A condo itself does need updated though. The Sandpiper is an annual destination for us, and will probably stay that way.

I love that this property is right on the beach but also has a large heated swimming pool. From the deck you can see your family members that are in the swimming pool or sitting on the beach. This was my third stay I had the same piper. This was the first time I had grandkids with me. Will come again

The property description was accurate! The Sandpiper is in a great location, close enough to walk to restaurants and stores yet not too close! The property was right on the beach! The unit was clean and everything worked - would definitely stay here again! The management company was genuine and very easy to work with, especially when registering! Gulf Shores as a whole is a great vacation spot. Just don't tell too many people! Would hate to see it become overcrowded!

The location is wonderful with the attached deck. The decoration is warm and welcoming, overall pretty clean.
It could use some updating with the floors, there were some edges the carpet had worn and we could feel the tacks. The picture shows a recliner but there was not one in the unit. Also the dressers were minimal. One tall one and one small one for both bedrooms. It would be a nice addition to have drawer space available. As always Gulf Shores is a wonderful location and Benders is very accommodating. Hoping to be back next year for sure.

As a snowbird this has been a nice location. The decor is warm and inviting. Missing is having at least one recliner. The chairs are ok, but to lean back for a quick nap would be great.
Also a good review of the cupboards would be good. Over time supplies accumulated and there are about 50 plates and duplicate utensils. I didn’t count the plates but all the extras take up precious space.
These things are only suggestions because I am planning to book for next year.
Because of our lengthy stay i would be ok organizing a few of those things. I would put the extras in a box for owner review.

Overall the place was very nice. We had a great time staying there. The only minor thing we noticed was in the bathroom attached to the master bedroom. The toilet handle chain was too long and kept getting stuck which made the water run continuously. We fixed that very easily. However, when we took the lid off to fix the chain we noticed quite a bit of what looked like mold growing inside the tank. Like I said, this was a very minor thing but may be something you’ll want to address. Everything else was wonderful.

For the 5 th year we had a wonderful stay in Sandpiper 8A. Could use a few tweaks but on the whole it is a perfect escape from snow and ice. The view is awesome and the guests and the “Bender” crew make for a happy and friendly family atmosphere. We love Sandpiper 8A and from our hearts to God’s ears we will continue to make it our fun in the sun get away. See everyone next year. PS. Hubby says recliner could be replaced as it is “as wobbly as a long neck goose.” Love ya

5 years at Sandpiper 8A Condo

Another year at Sandpiper 8A is winding down. Once again we have enjoyed the condo and people. However, after 5 years the condo needs some tweaking and up dating. The glass table is scratched and is leveled by the cardboard we put under the legs. The recliner arm is loose, the bathroom and kitchen floors needs updated, and the kitchen counter is warped. The condo was not as clean as in past years but we fixed that.. With a little TLC this condo would be perfect. As for any service we needed (Including a new mixer since the old mixer was missing the beaters) was answered quickly and professionally. We love this condo and will be back next year bringing cosmetic touches to make it our home away from home. Thank you.

Love the condo. Could use a bit of up date. Mattresses were good....hate the rubber masters cover. Hard to keep in place. Cleaning was good...not great as it was in the past. Living room furniture good. Need different kitchen table. Had chunks of cardboard under 2 legs to keep from wobbling. We substituted better leverage. Kitchen counter top and kitchen and bathroom tiles have seen better days. Bathrooms could use new grouting. Don’t get me wrong, we love the condo and the little tweaks would only make it outstanding. Thank you

Bender Realty is always great to work with. This is our 2nd year at Sandpiper, but 1st time in 8A. We already booked this unit again for 2020! The location is perfect, beach access so easy, the view from the deck is fantastic, the swing on the deck was a favorite, and the pool was great. We meet so many nice people each visit. It is a great place to stay and we will be coming back for years!
Suggestions to fix: main bath had anchors in the wall but missing the towel bar, the removable shower head in main bath is pulling out of the wall so bangs constantly each time used.

Our family has been to Sandpiper many times over the years and while its not the fanciest its clean, comfortable and a great place for families to relax and enjoy the beach and each other. We will be back and I would rent 8A again.

We so enjoyed our time at Sandpiper for Thanksgiving! The rental was well furnished, comfortable, and fantastic access to the beach. The porch swing was a great way to spend our mornings and evenings. The bedrooms were comfortable and provided ample space for our family. We would definitely recommend working with Bender Vacation Rentals and plan to come back to Gulf Shores for Thanksgiving holidays again!

The condo was a great place to stay. It was nicely decorated (loved the turtle table), beds were comfortable, kitchen well furnished and the swing on the deck was nice. Great views from the living room. It would have been nice to have more seating on the deck and a cushion in the swing. The bathrooms were large. Great complex and condo. Perfect location...easy access to beach, pool and parking. We had an intermittent issue with the door lock the first night and it was taken care of promptly on Sunday. Great food throughout the week (Shipps, Beach House Kitchen, Live Bait, Bahama Bob's, Hazel's Diner, Acme Oyster House....and the Broken Egg in Fairhope) and some good entertainment, too. (Best music discovery was Winston Ramble!!) Took a dolphin cruise (with Cold Mil Fleet in Orange Beach) and had a great experience. This was a "Sister Week" at the beach and it was near-perfect weather...only one rainout plenty of opportunities for walking on the beach and enjoying the deck and private balcony, along with the beach and pool. I have been to this complex many times and always have had a good experience.

We had a great stay in Gulf Shores. This was our very first trip to this area and it will not be our last one !!! The condominium was just perfect. All of the people that we encountered were all very friendly. There was a great selection of restaurants to choose from and plenty to do on the days that we were not relaxing at the pool or hanging out on the beach. We also enjoyed going to the Shrimp Fest. We will definitely be back.

We spent 2 weeks at Sandpiper and enjoyed our stay. For the most part things were good, however, we felt the condo could use some updating and minor repairs. The furniture is beginning to sag and is uncomfortable, especially for those of us who are older. The turntable in the microwave didn't work, the lid on the washer didn't open all the time, the commode in the smaller bedroom didn't flush properly and the lock on the master BR door didn't lock as it should. The lock has been a problem for a while because others had mentioned it in the "log" for guests. The bed in the master BR was comfortable which meant a lot to us and we love the porch with the swing which was a big drawing point for us. The property appeared to be clean and the location is great, close to everything. Some of our favorite restaurants were Desoto's and Wolf Bay Lodge and of course Lamberts. The Navy Air Museum is a must to see and it's free and so close. The one thing we noticed was that some people had dogs with them and according to the "rules" given us, animals were not allowed.One person with a dog was an owner (she said) and now we wonder why there are two sets of rules. We found the property management company to be very professional and helpful. Yes, we would go back and would recommend it to others.

We rent other properties with "no pet" policies and this is more to our liking. We question the wisdom of the HOA policy??

Love Bender & Sandpiper. Keypad lockout at exactly 10 am is not practical. Stuff happens - like snow and ice all over the parking lot. Make people pay if they run late, but don't lock them out. What if a baby was left inside? And please POST the office phone number somewhere visible for when it happens. Everything else was perfect - cold, but perfect!!

This condo (8A) had a perfect location - large end balcony with a swing and only one flight up the stairs. The interior needs updating and the floors were dirty, but overall we had an enjoyable stay. Bender Realty was easy to work with, was accomodating to our late arrival, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

We brought our family of 9 which included 3 grandchildren. They all loved the lay out to the pool and to the beach. The view of the beach from our own balcony was great.We could watch our grand-kids in the pool from our deck outside our room. Just a wonderful experience. As we were leaving, our kids were all asking "mom, dad, when can we do this again?"

We love the unit location and the atmosphere of the Sandpiper. There was a section of carpet along the seam that was torn up and our 4 yr old tripped over it all week. This is the second time we have stayed at the Sand Piper and we will be back. The apartments are clean and usually fully stocked with essentials. This time we did not have any coffee filters for the first morning. This could have been a problem for someone who had never stayed there. Would like to see a TV channel listing. These are small things. Overall this is a great place to stay and enjoy the beach,

The view from the balcony every morning was spectacular. Sitting on the balcony swing with a cup of coffees gave us views of the dolphins swimming in the gulf. We have been coming to Sand Piper for about 6 years now and Bender has never let us down. All
of the decking has been replaced and that was a nice surprise. It was a quiet and great week for us. Thank You!

I have stayed in this unit several times and enjoy the balcony view. However the decor is dated and the room really needs a new look. I have seen several other units that are up to date and don't have the "80's" look. I think this would help a lot for the owners to revamp.

the only thing that was missing from our condo was outdoor patio furniture in the front and back and a cushion would have been nice on the porch swing. We had an awesome vacation otherwise.

We have enjoyed Gulf Shores, Sandpiper, for many many years. The oil spill was not going to derail our trip this year. There was some tar balls on the beach and a few wet clumps. We still ejoyed ourselves and will be back next year.

Enjoyed the stay this year. First time in condo 8A. Only negative was the counter over the toilet. I'm glad I'm thin.

We really enjoyed our week in 8A at the Sandpiper. This was the first time we booked our week after the prime time season. It was unbelievable. The weather was fantastic, the water was clear and no jellyfish. The only suggestion I have is to replace the coffee maker with one that is programable & pause & serve. Other than that, It don't get any better!

Great property...beautiful ocean and beach view from the room and the porch swing. Would be more convenient if they would designate parking spaces to units...last one in was out of luck! Also, instructions for using the DVD player would be helpful!

Door to deck needs maintenance. Bathroom in bedroom: Tub enclosure needs repair/replacement as well as plumbing fixtures.

kitchen equipment, for example coffee maker, blender and baking pans, were less than satisfactory and the air ducts gave off a mildewy smell. Also, the bathtubs were not real clean; there was mildew around soapdish and fixtures and hair in the drain. A wonderful place to vacation despite these minor irritations.

We really loved our unit 8A. We love the way Sandpiper is set up. I would like to see a permanent fix with the elevator though. The last 2 years there have been people stuck in it.

Had a good time with daughter's family and grandkids. A kiddie pool would of made it a 5 star, but otherwise very nice family condo on the beach. Beds were a little uncomfortable, but lots of couch and sitting areas in family room. This is probably the best of the room locations in the building, I'd try for it next time.

The mattress on the bed in the 2nd bedroom was uncomfortable

Hi, I have always loved the sandpiper. I have been coming there as often as I can since 1990 or 91ish. I have even brought a 2nd generation with me this year. (smiling). i was a bit hesitant to write this because I love the people and the piper so much this is hard for me to write. but here it goes. I wish the pool was working. I know the weather was really windy but nobody from the office offered us a chance to use a pool even once at a different location..we were tld every day that it would be up and warm the next day. the room had a beautiful view but the person staying there before us used illegal drugs and we found it under one of the leather rocking/recliner chairs. If I was a drug person i could have sold what we threw away in the garbage for several hundred dollars. So you can see why it took me awhile to write this. it isn't a very pleasnt letter to write to a place i have considered my little piece of heaven on earth. I Hope that next time we come which we were thinking about this summer or fall depending on my health of course, that maybe the couple of things would be taken care of. I really do love gulf shores but the sandpiper like i said is my piece of heaven on earth. I hope you have a beautiful summer and hope to see everyone again soon. Catherine

I actually rented two condos for me, my sister, my daughter and four grandchildren. Another friend and her two children rented the third condo at the same time. We all had a wonderful time.
