If you’re a professional photographer, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are your dream destination – there are so many different places and subjects to capture in the area that it is impossible to do it all in one vacation’s time. Or perhaps you’re an amateur photographer (or owner of a phone who can’t stop taking selfies), and you’re looking to capture memories of your beach vacation? No matter what your level of expertise or desired subject, there are an endless number of places to take photos while you’re in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Perfect Morning and Evening Light

One of the best parts about being in Coastal Alabama is the opportunity to take in both sunrises and sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. These are great photo opportunities, whether of just the landscape or of your family on the sugar-white sands as the sun makes its descent (or ascent if you can get your crew out of bed that early).

Restaurants

Some of the most beautiful landscapes, backdrops, and lighting can be found at our outdoor restaurants. When you’re dining at these spots, be sure to bring your camera:

Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina
The Gulf
Cobalt The Restaurant

At Your Rental

Your vacation rental is likely to provide ample opportunity to stretch your photography skills (or to make your phone do the work for you). If you’re staying on Little Lagoon or near Gulf State Pier, the dock is a beautiful place to pose your family. Did you snag a beachfront unit? Gathering out on the sandy shore is easy – just make sure to stay off of the sea oats and sand dunes!

Unique Backdrops

If you’re looking for somewhere unique to capture your memories, try some of these local hot spots:

Fort Morgan Historic Site
The USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park   Holding an exotic animal at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
Flying high on the Skycoaster at The Track, the rollercoaster at Waterville USA, or any of the rides at OWA

Looking for Wildlife?

If you’re looking to capture wildlife unique to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, try checking out the beach, the waterways, or one of our unique trails. Here you’ll find unique birds, alligators, deer, turtles, snakes, and even the endangered Alabama Beach Mouse.

Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail
Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

Let the Professionals Handle It

If having professional photos taken during your visit is on your mind, there are plenty of photographers in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach who can accommodate you and your family. Whether you want to dress up in coordinated outfits for posed pictures, want images of the little ones laughing and playing, or want to have a professional engagement or maternity session, here are a few to get your search started:
